Tony Dungy's record without Manning is 54-42 with a playoff record of 2-4.
Before Montana, Walsh had 2-14 and 6-10 seasons.

Are you agreeing with me???? The QB is more important or are you defending BB?

Undoubtedly.
But put him in the Oakland Raiders with Art Shell and they probably win 5 games all year? Maybe?
Who knows?
The point is that as good as he is, and I consider him to be one of the greatest to ever play this position, BB may well have been the perfect foil for his talents.
Frankly, no one will ever know and, 3 Superbowls later, I really don't care. I love them both equally and consider myself lucky to have had them both in the employment of my favourite NFL team during my lifetime.
The debate will be going on a long time after both of these guys have, as Belichick would say, been fitted for their Hall of Fame jackets.

Well, if we think about TBs first season as a starter, he wasn't a world-beater, but he was put in an offense that was solid enough to keep him standing up, given a playbook that focused on high percentage plays like screens & slot passes and paired with a defense that was good enough to keep the opposing team out of the end zone. Also, the coach had enough faith in him to keep him starting even after the popular and talented first string starting QB was ready to come back.
Wade Philips would have given him the Flutie treatment. Al Davis would have hung him out to dry with no O-line. Marvin Lewis wouldn't front a defense that could allow him on the field long enough to develop.
So you'd have to say that it is a symbiotic relationship between QB & coach.

I'm saying that even good coaches like Dungy and Walsh don't look so good without their HOF-quality QB.

But of course not, who does. That said, I'll say this, if the pats get to the post season and advance beyond the 1st round, I'll give kudos up to BB.
All things considered, I think it would be warranted.

I'm guessing your 'kudos' will be the defining accolade of Bill's career.

Well cool. I'm just happy to be able to contribute to BB's illustrious legacy.
