The Superstars

Cold, Hard Football Facts for Apr 23, 2006

The Superstars

The Superstars are the first-round wide receivers over the past 10 years who have exceeded all reasonable expectations and become premier, even record-setting NFL performers.

All are likely future Hall of Famers.

Just three of the 45 wide-receivers drafted in the first round over the past 10 years meet these standards. But even this collection is not without its flaws. The record-setting Marvin Harrison has been wildly disappointing in the postseason, hauling in just two TD passes in his 10 career playoff appearances.

Randy Moss has been a divisive and controversial force on and off the field, and he was finally shipped out of Minnesota and acquired by Oakland in 2005. The Raiders floundered with Moss and look no better for having picked him up.

Only the record-setting Holt has been productive in both the regular season and postseason. He's also the only one of the three Superstars to play in a Super Bowl, winning once in two appearances.
