THE FACTS

-The Broncos ranked 20th in the NFL in yards per attempt with 4.06. That's offset by Denver converting 46.34% of third downs, second in the league.

-Knowshon Moreno personally averaged 4.31 YPA, clearing 1000 yards for the first time in his career. Interestingly, only once did Moreno clear 100 yards in a game (224 in the Patriot loss).

-With a committee approach, Denver has topped 100 yards as a team in 14 of 18 games, and are 2-2 when rushing for under 100. Clearly, a degree of balance is their fuse.

HOW DOES IT FACTOR: To improve on the point of Denver's 100-yard games, the Broncos are 1-2 when running the ball 20 or less times. The third loss was their highest running output of the year (48 attempts in New England), but there was strange pigskin voodoo at play there.

Denver's a clock-controller (when they're not scoring on deep bombs), and the run is there mostly to fortify their grip on the hands of time. Seattle's run defense has improved largely from last season (3.85 YPA allowed, 7th best), so from Denver's side of it, it's up to Manning to judge the looks and decide when to audible to it.
