Comparing contenders via Quality Stats: Saints still No. 1, Ravens suprisingly stout
Cold, Hard Football Facts for January 5, 2010
Here's a look at how each postseason contender fared in each of our Quality Stats this year.
The Saints, as you might imagine from their dominance for most of the year, finish the year No. 1 in three individual indicators and with the best across-the-board average.
Surprisingly, in a CHFF first, a No. 6 seed finished with the best average in their conference (Baltimore in the AFC).
Among our stats, our newest indicator, Passer Rating Differential, proved the most likely to identify playoff teams. The playoff contenders, on average, ranked 7.6 in this indicator. That's impressive when you consider the lowest possible average of 12 teams is 6.5.
