New-look Broncos grab 1 of every 4 free agents
Cold, Hard Football Facts for March 4, 2009

Josh McDaniel and the new administration in Denver has wasted no time trying to put its imprint on the organization. His relationship with supposed franchise QB Jay Cutler has been well documented, including the possibility that McDaniel would have traded for Matt Cassel, who led the coach's offense when he was the offensive coordinator last year in New England.

Now consider this: There have been 63 free-agent signings as of Wednesday morning, according to information provided by the NFL. The Broncos single-handedly acount for nine of those 63 signings ... all of them unrestricted free agents acquired from other teams.

The moves look more impressive when you consider only those players who have moved to another team, rather than sign with their old team: the Broncos account for nine of those 37 signings. In other words, nearly one-quarter of all the free agents who have jumped ship so far in free agency have landed in Denver.

The biggest name, of course, is former Eagles safety and perennial Pro Bowler Brian Dawkins, who arrives in Denver after a teary-eyed departure from Philly.

Below is the complete list of free-agent signings to date. We'll update the list periodically throughout the free-agency period. The list does not include players acquired in trades, only free agents.

Josh McDaniel and the new Denver staff has wasted no time putting its imprint on the team. The coach has already hinted that he has no faith in Jay Cutler as a franchise QB, while the Broncos have grabbed 1 of every 4 players who have jumped ship so far in free agency.
