Coming soon: the CHFF Bart Starr interview
Cold, Hard Football Facts for November 2, 2008

As a matter of pigskin principle the Cold, Hard Football Facts do not conduct interviews.

Our one and only source of information is the data, or what you and we know and love as the Cold, Hard Football Facts. Most CHFF readers know why: human sources have agendas and ulterior motives. So, too, do the reporters who talk to these human sources. You know what happens next: you simply can never trust the veracity of the story you're reading.

The countless inaccurately reported stories you see each week stand as proof of the inherent flaws of the traditional sports media and the obvious superiority of the Cold, Hard Football Facts. After all, the data do not have an agenda.

But we're making an exception this week. We're interviewing former Packers quarterback Bart Starr and will publish the text of the interview over the next few days. We'll felt an exception to our SOP was in order here.

After all, we named Starr the best quarterback in history earlier this year, and have published several other pieces about his remarkable, unmatched and in most cases under-appreciated accomplishments. (Most recently, we wrote about his nearly flawless performance in the 1966 NFL championship game, which was played just 364 days before the more famous Ice Bowl.)

We recently heard from a member of the Starr family about these stories, and it's our understanding that our friend Homer True from ESPN Radio Milwaukee has discussed some of these stories with Starr.

So it just kind of evolved from there. And, if we had feelings, we'd be excited to talk to him.

Expect to learn from the NFL's greatest QB himself about the signature moments of his career and about his relationship with Vince Lombardi, along with his view of the Packers dynasty from inside the huddle, under center and behind the famous single-bar facemask.
