Awesome playoff team releases: now with San Diego
Cold, Hard Football Facts for January 4, 2008

Teams issue press releases each week that are chock full of great tidbits of data that journalists plug into their reports and articles. We figured we’d cut out the middlehack and just give you the releases here. After all, these releases are pretty well done, often more interesting and definitely more informative than what you read and see in the news, and much of what they offer never sees the light of day.

We have releases from six of the eight wildcard contenders here, along with a triumphant 16-0 year-end release from New England. If we get releases from the other playoff teams, wildcard or otherwise, we'll publish them here.

The Bolts lead the NFL with a +24 turnover margin and are 15-2 at home over the last two seasons.

The Titans (formerly the Houston Oilers) battled San Diego in the first two AFL championship games in 1960 and 1961. This will be their second postseason clash since then.

Saturday winners:

It’s the sixth postseason appearance in Jacksonville’s 13 years as an NFL franchise.

The Seahawks have reached the playoffs in five straight seasons, matching their number of postseason appearances from their founding in 1976 to 2002.

Saturday losers:

The Steelers are a perfect 4-0 at home in wildcard games, and 0-2 on the road.

Joe Gibbs is third all-time in postseason victories (17), behind only Tom Landry (20) and Don Shula (19).

New England year-end wrap-up:

The Patriots are 20-3 on games played after Christmas in the Bill Belichick Era.
