 Like all of the greatest conquerors in history -- Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Wilt Chamberlain -- Bonzo wants to win the 2007 prognostication crown with bloody intensity.
Bonzo had a big bounce-back Week 16, going 12-4 to improve to 135-103 on the season, twing him with Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com with just this Sunday slate of games to go. With Clark Judge well back in second place among the CBS 'experts,' it's a two-man ... um, two-entity race for the crown.
Bonzo's 56.7 winning percentage and 32-games-above-.500 status is nothing to sneeze at for a monkey that flips coins to pick outcomes. Go ahead and try to flip a coin 238 times and see if you get 135 heads results. If you do, call us at 1-800-IHAVE-NO-GIRLFRIEND.
It's OK. Bonzo doesn't have one either.
Bonzo was eerily focused all week, eating his meals with quiet dignity and passing up several chances to expose his hairless ass for comic effect.
We tried to talk to him, using the "Monkey Translator 3000" software, but he just held up one of his long fingers to his lips.
Fair enough, Bonzo. But he did give us his picks, which we share now.
Best of luck to the Bonzonator and everyone else out there sweating out Week 17 results for one reason or another.
