Huzzah! Honky-tonk hottie to sing NBC theme song
Cold, Hard Football Facts for August 30, 2007
Never let it be said that the otherwise emotionless Cold, Hard Football Facts don't have a soft spot in their clogged hearts for ravishing southern blonds.
She continues a great football tradition of good, old-fashioned American rednecks singing the theme songs of our national sport. Her husband, country singer Tim McGraw, sang the halftime song on Monday Night Football a couple years back. And, for many years, honky-tonk hero Hank Williams Jr., the son of the man who invented country music, sang the Monday Night Football theme song, a take-off on his hit song, "All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tongiht." Even if you despise country music, you have to love the original Bocephus song for lines like this:
"I got ketchup on my blue jeans, I just burnt my hand"
"We cooked a pig in the ground, we got some beer on ice"
"Do you want to drink? Hey, do you want to party?"
Sounds like lunchtime at the Cold, Hard Football Facts cardboard-box world headquarters.
More important than continuing a tradition, however, is that red-hot redneck Hill replaces the decidedly lukewarm chanteuse, Pink, who sang the "Sunday Night Football" theme song last year - arguably the worst decision in TV management history.
Now, you may not like Hill or her music. But, just ask yourself, couldn't you get used to looking at this each Sunday night? It's enough to keep us awake for that Dec. 23 meltdown between Tampa and San Francisco.
