The NFL's capless free-agendcy period got underway Friday, with a big late of headlines from around the league, namely as teams cut a long list of veterans.

Jake Delhomme led that list: the BrettFavre Light gunslinger was cut by the Panthers on Friday.

 

Later in the day a series of big signings followed. Julius Peppers landed in Chicago with a deal worth just shy of $80 million, while the Patriots inked NT Vince Wilfork, one of just six franchised players in the NFL, to a five-year, $40 million deal.

 

In addition, the Ravens traded for former Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin. And, of course, the Jets traded for San Diego cornerback Antonio Cromartie on Thursday. It gives Rex Ryan's already tough defense a very formidable looking CB tandem with Darrelle Revis on the other side.
